PentaBind is designing high performance aptamers as therapeutic delivery vehicles and active ingredients. It uses generative artificial intelligence models, supported by wet-laboratory data generation processes, to help produce aptamer drugs that are easy to design, highly selective and ‘invisible’ to the immune system. Unlike many RNA drugs targeting mRNA, its aptamers overcome high gene turnover issues and endosomal escape challenges for effective tumour penetration.
Herd Climate is a not-for-profit addressing the pressing agricultural challenge of enteric methane emissions produced by farming animals. It works directly with farmers, researchers and young people to bridge the gap between climate-smart scientific advancements and on-the-ground practices through innovative research, accessible science communication and engaging networking events. This equips agricultural communities - who are at the forefront of climate solutions - with actionable insights for collaborative, sustainable farming practices.
Zentraxa is precision engineering biomaterials, pushing the boundaries of biopolymer synthesis to develop sustainable, performance-enhancing ingredients for everyday products. Its proprietary technological platform (Zentide) overcomes the biodesign limits of existing, conventional peptide synthesis by designing, producing and testing complex, novel peptides with one universal process. Zentraxa creates bespoke solutions for a range of industries by combining key features from different naturally-occurring proteins, such as stiffness, adhesion or thermal stability.

Francis joined Science Creates in 2022 and designed and launched the company’s first UK-wide Engineering Biology Accelerator in partnership with UKRI, which was relaunched again the following year after its huge success.
Francis brings a mixed bag of experience to Science Creates, combining direct entrepreneurial and software experience through founding Testbuds, a successful feedback platform for food products.
He also brings a breadth of technical knowledge to the team, including a QTEC Biodesign Enterprise Fellowship, research funding expertise, early-stage Deep Tech training, and a PhD in Organic Chemistry where he was part of a team that built a "world-first” replica of a GPCR receptor, published in a leading international science journal.
Marketing Manager
With a background in biotechnology and science communication, Aida brings a wealth of experience supporting science and innovation-focused organisations in reaching a variety of audiences. At Science Creates, she will continue to shout from the rooftops about the growing Deep Tech community and its achievements. Outside of work, Aida is all about outdoor activities — from long runs up mountain trails and bikepacking adventures to music festivals.
Innovation Manager
Lucy completed a PhD and postdoc in Molecular Cell Biology and has extensive experience in science communication. Within Science Creates, Lucy uses her passion for biology and scientific community building to oversee the successful delivery of our accelerators, training and support the growing Deep Tech ecosystem in Bristol.
Digital Content Creator
With degrees in chemistry and science communication, Rachel combines her scientific background with her broad PR experience and artistic creativity to tell the stories from across the Science Creates community through impactful digital content. Outside of work, Rachel enjoys playing and coaching hockey, soaking up Bristol’s live music scene, and making art.
Community & Partnerships Manager
Emmaline has a PhD in Biochemistry and experience working in R&D at a spinout company. With a passion for science communication, she has run public engagement events for scientists and wider audiences, and as a foodie, she has produced and hosted a science documentary on the future of food. With this strong background in science communication and cross-sector networking, she is excited to build opportunities and partnerships that will continue to support Science Creates' thriving Deep Tech community.
